Picture Of Troy

Greetings and Salutations wayfarer of the internet. You've wandered off the beaten path and found my personal tinkerzone and collection of links and ramblings. Feel free to browse around and see what there is to see. I used to build and maintain websites for small local businesses and organizations as a side business so I still like to play around with code and experiment from time to time and somewhere around here is where I am likely to do so. When I do have something new and interesting to share I'll throw a link up for those curious enough to check it out. Other than maintaining a few websites for people I already had a business relationship with I don't really take on much new web related work but instead do a lot of side handyman work for folks.

My wife is an amazing artist! Check out her website, Primal Aspects for some samples of her work and ways to get in touch. Also check out my Handyman Services for help whittling down that long honey-do list.

The Desiderata
By Max Ehrmann, 1927
This is Max Ehrmann's timeless philosophical statement.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble, it's a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone. - John Maynard Keynes

"To you alone it is given to know the truth about the gods and deities of the sky... The innermost groves of far-off forests are your abodes. And it is you who say that the shades of the dead seek not the silent land of Erebus and the pale halls of Pluto; rather, you tell us that the same spirit has a body again elsewhere, and that death, if what you sing is true, is but the mid-point of long life." Lucan Pharsalia, speaking to the Druids, c.60AD

"The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man." Charles Darwin

"The willow learns to bend with the wind so that it doesn't break with the storm." Unknown

You will find something far greater in the woods than you will find in books. Stones and trees will teach you that which you will never learn from masters. - St. Bernard

Get Firefox

I'm a huge fan of all things Open Source, from the Ubuntu Linux OS I use to run my computer to the Firefox web browser I use to surf the net to the Bluefish and Quanta Plus web authoring systems I use to work on my websites. For low cost (usually no cost), high security, and NO VENDOR LOCK IN Open Source software is the best.
